Commissioned Artwork
What Can Be Commissioned
Commissioned works may include:
Artwork can integrate cultural teachings, storytelling, and Indigenous symbolism in ways that align with the space, the people it serves, and the purpose of the project.
Each commission is customized to the client’s needs, vision, and environment.
Key Considerations
• All commissions are culturally informed and created with respect
• The process is collaborative, ensuring client vision aligns with Indigenous teachings and integrity
• Artwork may be created for personal, educational, organizational, or community purposes
• Every commissioned piece includes a written meaning to preserve and share its story

A Collaborative and Respectful Process
Inquiry and Initial Consultation
The process begins with a conversation.
Clients are invited to share:
• The type of artwork being considered
• Size, medium, and location
• Purpose of the piece
• Any themes, stories, or values they hope to reflect
Budget and timeline are discussed early to ensure clarity and alignment.
Concept Development
Jessica develops preliminary sketches, visual concepts, or storyboards that reflect the shared vision.
When cultural teachings are involved, Elders or Knowledge Keepers may be consulted to ensure teachings are shared respectfully and accurately.
Clients are invited to provide feedback, ask questions, and approve the concept before moving forward.
Proposal and Agreement
Once the concept is approved, a written agreement outlines:
• Scope of work
• Materials and medium
• Cost and timeline
• Delivery or installation details
• Ownership, licensing, and reproduction rights
This step ensures transparency and shared understanding.
Creation of the Artwork
Jessica creates the commissioned piece, integrating cultural storytelling, symbolism, and her artistic style.
When appropriate, clients may receive progress updates or photos during the creation process.
Each piece is created with intention, care, and respect for the stories it carries.
Delivery and Installation
Artwork is delivered or installed as agreed, whether it is a mural, tipi, board, paddle, or other medium.
Every commission includes a written explanation describing:
• The meaning of the artwork
• Symbolism used
• Cultural teachings connected to the piece
This written component supports deeper understanding and long-term connection to the work.
Follow-Up and Care
Clients receive guidance on:
• Care and display of the artwork
• How to share or interpret the meaning respectfully
Optional educational or storytelling context can be provided to support learning, presentations, or community engagement connected to the artwork.
